The Foundation

As a young boy Steven was destined to be in the construction industry. By the time he was a teenager he spent most of his youth working in construction as his summer jobs. Having a passion for carpentry, real estate and working with people he formed a renovations, deck building, landscaping company while attending school at the University of Guelph. The success of this small business won him an Entrepreneurial Award under the Ministry of Skills Development. After earning a business degree in Economics with a love for science and a passion to be a entrepreneur the foundation was set for the genesis of Wrighthaven Homes.

First Home Built

Wrighthaven Homes was founded in 1990 when President and owner, Steven Wright, built his first home in Fergus. From some very humble beginnings the company grew based on 3 core values Quality, Craftsmanship and Trust.

The Early Years

In 1992 and the early years of the business Wrighthaven began designing their own homes. In that same year the company's interest in science and how the home operates as a system and passion to improve construction techniques the company trained and became certified in the building science home labelling program called R2000. At that time it was the premier program of building science and energy efficiency training.

New Firsts

In 1995, Wrighthaven built one of the first R2000 all steel homes on a quest to perfect home building principles. The reputation of a high quality leading edge builder was established.

Not only is Wrighthaven a premier builder but in 1995 Wrighthaven began their land developing career. Building their first community called Grandridge on SouthRiver Road in Elora. With many acclaimed subdivisions and beautiful streetscapes you can drive around Centre Wellington and quickly recognize these special home communities. You will also be able to identify them as all have a signature stone representing the pride and care built into every home.

High Performance Homes

By 2005 Wrighthaven was building high performance homes under the Energy Star program. It was clear that higher efficiency homes were better than code and of greater value to clients and living in indoor spaces. Wrighthaven continued to constantly improve adhering to the best value features and principles on the leading edge of technology and energy efficiency.

Energy Efficiency

In 2015 Wrighthaven was commissioned by Natural Resources Canada to be one of 7 builders nationwide to build a home so energy efficient that with the addition of renewable energy such as solar panels the home could produce as much energy annually as it uses. The model home despite many challenges in Hydro Authority infrastructure featured completely off grid capabilities and a rainwater recovery system to name a few. It was the dawning of a new era of building and the Net Zero Ready and Net Zero home labelling program. Wrighthaven to this day stays true to its values by offering and building homes to the Net Zero Ready program representing leading technology and best valued home features and building practices in the industry.

The next generation of Wrighthaven Homes has embarked on their journey of continuation of the family business. Adam and Sarah Wright share in the core values and vision of Wrighthaven Homes prepared to build the next generation homes of the future.
